Snow Day! Love is in the Air!
It’s a snow day. Valentine’s Day is around the corner. It’s the perfect time to blog and share what I’ve been up to. It sure has been a while! It’s a 2018 goal of mine to be more active in self-publishing my work. Here’s my first step towards that goal.
This past Holiday season, I dove into a crash course on marketing my Artwork. I split my time between working Art and Craft fairs as well as setting up an establishing my Etsy Shop. I worked 4 Art/Craft fairs in a row and it would’ve been 5 had it not been for snow! It was a lot all at once but I learned a ton. I loved being able to share about my work, processes and exchange stories with customers. As a Designer / Art Educator it was new for me to put myself out there in a venue where I’d be openly talking about my own work. Most of what I’ve done in my Art career is freelance design work and gallery shows, most of them group shows where the spotlight isn’t on me. This new venture gives me an opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and connect with people about Art…
Well it’s February and I’m back on the road again! I have three big events happening this month!
The first one is that I have a photography display up at Starbucks on 995 Main Street in Newington.
Of the three Starbucks’ in town, this is the one that is in their downtown area. It’s a collection of Photographs of bikes from my adventures in NYC as well as from my 2015 tour of Western Europe, including England, Holland, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
Following the transportation theme, my next venture coming up is to try to sell train photography and other artwork at the Model Railroad, Train and Toy Show on Sunday, February 11th in Wallingford from 9am to 2pm. That’s located at Zandri’s Stillwood Inn, 1074 South Colony Rd. I’m hoping to be able to sell some of my larger prints and create a following for my train artwork. I’ll also have some new prints for sale that have not yet been shown on my Etsy or social media.
To round out the month I’ll be keeping it local, right in East Berlin. On Saturday February 17th, 11am to 2pm, there’s a Craft/Vendor Show to benefit the Kenya Project. I thought it seemed like a good cause to get involved in. A school out in Middletown is partnering with a school out in Kenya to do a humanitarian project. More details are on their Facebook page. This will be located at the East Berlin Fire Department, 80 Main Street in East Berlin, CT.
If you’re around, stop by and visit any of my displays or booths! If you can’t make it, I’m running a Valentine’s Day sale at my Etsy Shop. 20% off until 2/9/18. If you choose Priority Mail so you can get your gift of Art for your loved one in time for the big day next Wednesday.
